Road Construction Project Manager / Senior Civil Engineer

Location: Marietta, GA
Job Type: Full-Time | On-Site

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Road Construction Project Manager / Senior Civil Engineer to manage road, highway, and multi-use trail construction projects from planning through completion. This role combines project management, estimating, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and field oversight.

The position will work under the supervision of a Georgia-registered Professional Engineer (PE).

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee construction operations.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules and track project progress.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor quality, safety, and work progress.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, materials, and project resources.
  • Prepare subcontractor agreements, submittals, RFIs, pay applications, and invoices.
  • Monitor project budgets and review subcontractor and supplier invoices.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Identify public bid opportunities and support business development efforts.
  • Prepare project estimates, quantity takeoffs, and bid proposals.
  • Perform unit-price and labor/material cost analysis.
  • Negotiate pricing with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Maintain construction material pricing information.
  • Prepare bid packages, estimate summaries, and required bid documents.
  • Attend bid openings and review post-bid information for scope accuracy.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering – Mandatory
  • 5+ years of experience managing road, highway, infrastructure, or multi-use trail projects.
  • Experience with construction estimating, quantity takeoffs, and bidding.
  • Proficiency with MS Project and Bluebeam/AutoCAD.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organization, and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet project deadlines.
  • EIT certification/exam passed is a strong plus.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate has a strong background in road/highway construction, with hands-on experience in both project management and estimating/bidding. Experience coordinating subcontractors, managing schedules and budgets, and preparing competitive bids is highly valued.
